To commemorate the 475th anniversary of Jacques Cartier's arrival in Gaspé, a committee was set up with the purpose of founding the Corporation for the Gaspé 2009 Celebrations. The members of this committee are involved within their community for the development of the town of Gaspé and its region.
The Corporation is an independant, non-profit organization funded mainly by the government of Québec and the town of Gaspé. The Corporation is actively seeking to develop several partnerships with different government entities as well as public and private organizations.
The Corporation has set up a Board of Directors made up of determined people whose main goal is to produce successful celebrations.
