Witness - Illustrate - Inform
Production objectives and parametersThe participants are all graduates of INIS. During their training at the Institute, they learned the rules of production in the fields of cinema and television. The "INIS in Gaspé" project will enable them to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their regular training through on-the-ground experience.
More specifically, they will have to think about cinematographic language, even in the simplest situations; understand the importance of establishing a style, a signature for directing vignettes; develop a short and pertinent story; and, find good characters and strong scenarios.
They will have to learn how to construct an interview, how to get across the emotion, how to obtain an eye witness account in a documentary situation, which differs from a journalistic interview. They must maximize their preparation for filming while remaining on the lookout for unforeseen situations that would be even more useful for the film they are about to make.
They must do all this while following the established rules. They will have to organize and prepare filming, establish needs, get contractual agreements signed and above all... meet deadlines!
From a pedagogical point of view, the project's objectives are to:
• develop reflexes resulting in greater efficacy in the field;
• develop expertise in delivering works to order;
• learn how to turn a constraint into an opportunity;
• develop the ability to recognize the full potential of a theme;
• learn to rapidly assess the value and potential of a subject with regard to an imposed theme;
• develop the ability to rapidly integrate oneself into a community;
• develop a team spirit and cooperation in a production context.
